Hi, it's Matt.
I have a lot of ideas and make a lot of things. I used to do almost everything on YouTube as Conjecture, but nowadays my interests are so diverse (and I'm so indecisive) that I'm finding myself wanting to explore a wide variety of mediums: livestreaming videos, written posts, podcasts, music, board games, and more.
It's kind of crazy for people who want to follow me to need so many different accounts—Substack, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.—just to stay up to date with what I'm doing. So I'm making this newsletter to provide you with an easy way to follow whatever I'm making, wherever I make it. I'll probably also throw in some personal updates from time to time.
I have no idea how frequently I'll be making things, or how frequently I'll send out this newsletter. My guess is once every 1–3 months, but who knows. For now, if you follow this newsletter, you'll actually be able to see the things I'm currently making instead of wondering what happened to me and why I haven't posted anything to YouTube in literal years.
I'm writing a Substack post about why I left YouTube and the decision to approach my creative process the way I'm doing it now, so if you're interested you'll see that on this newsletter soon (hopefully). Speaking of Substack, that is a blog where I've put most of my creative energy recently. If you don't know about it, check out the most recent post I made:
Matt Squared
I originally published this piece on my old Google blog in 2015. The writing and illustration was inspired by blogs like Hyperbole and a Half and Wait But Why, which discussed fascinating ideas and packaged them in silly drawings. I emulated their styles as I wrote and illustrated this piece.
You can reply via email to these newsletters and I will read every single word of it.
Lots of love,
Matt
(and to some of you, Filet)
P.S. I took all of my Substack followers and some other people who I thought would want to get this and added them to this newsletter. If you aren't about that, sorry! You can unsubscribe below.
